Seismicity and ground deformations are widely recognized as the most effective indicators of a possible transition of active volcanoes from rest to unrest. However, during a quiescent phase, the complexity of the tectonic and volcanic processes can make it difficult to assess, for example, what part of the deformation is due to the magmatic source mobilization and/or fluids pressurization.
Indeed, only a multidisciplinary approach and a multiparametric analysis can effectively contribute to enforcing the current knowledge of the dynamic of the volcanoes and attempt to identify the directions of future research. This is particularly important for those volcanoes for which a direct experience of the eruption by scientists or monitoring authorities does not exist.
The session is intended to be a space where researchers from distinct disciplines can develop and share a multidisciplinary vision of the observations and experimentation for improving the volcanoes monitoring and the comprehension of the unrest processes.
Therefore, we encourage both contributions that have a multidisciplinary approach to observations and experimentation, and those that favor a single approach.
